113 Spring, located in SoHo, New York City is a new type of wellness experience, that offers a unique perspective on well-being. It’s a first-of-its-kind destination where nature inspires transformative experiences. The seasonal experiences are inspired by the change of seasons. The current seasonal theme is “Presence is the Present”, where it guides visitors to think deeply about presence as we move through the natural rhythms of life (i.e. sleep, awareness, thought, emotions) which all affect how present we can be.

I had the pleasure of experiencing one of their most unique personalized services, “Emergence”, developed by the London-based neuroaesthetics lab, Kinda Studios, led by Robyn Landau and Katherine Templar Lewis. Emergence is an immersive neurosensory meditation designed to shift your consciousness, expand your sense of presence, and spark creative insight. It uses cutting-edge neuroaesthetic research, to guide guests through a visual, sonic and vibroacoustic immersion for inspiration and transformation.

I thoroughly enjoyed the 30-minute guided meditation within the Emergence experience. As a first-time visitor, I was encouraged to set an intention before the experience and wear the EEG headset, which adapts in real time to each guest's unique brainwaves and emotions. After the experience, I was provided with Blue Lotus tea from the brand Qi, a notepad to write down any immediate thoughts along with colored pencils to share my experience creatively.

<div The opening exhibit, “New Humans: Memories of the Future” which explores artists’ preoccupation with humanity in the face of technological change. The show highlights how “machines” have altered humanity’s understanding of labor, gender, collectivity intelligence, and creativity.

The “New Humans.." exhibit encouraged me to reflect on how technology plays such a huge part in creativity today. The continued infiltration of A.I. across many industries, particularly the creative arts is a reflection of the symmetry between the early twentieth century and the present.

Where can technology play a part in how we engage in the arts to feel more human?

Reference: https://www.newmuseum.org/exhibition/new-humans-memories-of-the-future/

Neuroarts Insight

“Your Brain on Art: How the Arts Transform Us” by Susan Magsamen & Ivy Ross
——————————————-

The book, “Your Brain on Art: How the Arts Transform Us” was my entry point into understanding neuroarts and how important the arts play in how thrive within the world. In the book, the art exhibit, “A Space for Being” created by Google, Johns Hopkins Arts & Minds Lab and Suchi Reddy, presents an immersive art experience in which the body responds to different sensory environments through 3 different rooms, which were recorded through biomarkers. Google wristbands measured physiological responses (i.e. heart rate, respiration and temperature) of each visitor, which was then visualized through artful circles in watercolor.

Guests were shown their read from each of the three rooms as well as which room they were most at ease in. Stay with the work longer than usual; around 3-5 minutes and notice how your perception shifts over time. Afterward, write a short “memory from your future,” blending imagination and lived experience. This practice taps into how the brain processes memory and imagination through shared neural pathways, helping reframe perspective, reduce mental rigidity, and spark new ways of thinking.

Learn More: https://www.newmuseum.org/exhibition/new-humans-memories-of-the-future/

Thanks for reaching the end! “Kiki’s Delivery Service” in IMAX in Lincoln Square, we were all caught in awe and mesmerized by the large-installation by Nina Chanel Abney, “ San Juan Heal”. Currently on view on the West 65th Street façade of David Geffen Hall. Abney’s artwork honors the San Juan Hill community that previously resided there in the 1940s and '50s. The diverse, working-class neighborhood—home to some of the largest Black and Puerto Rican populations in New York City in the first half of the twentieth century—was forcibly displaced to make way for redevelopment.

Viewing Abney’s work provides a sense of wonder from the captivating colors and curiosity to understand the meaning behind the imagery.

Reference: https://www.lincolncenter.org/venue/david-geffen-hall/info/nina-chanel-abney-san-juan-heal.

Neuroarts Insight
One or more art experience a month can extend your life by 10 years.
Reference: https://www.yourbrainonart.com/what-is-neuroarts

Taking in Nina Chanel Abney’s “San Juan Heal” provides me with a sense of wonder and curiosity which is great for brain health. Wonder and curiosity boost brain health by triggering dopamine release, enhancing neuroplasticity, reducing stress, and improving memory. These states encourage active learning, activate reward centers, and foster cognitive flexibility, which protects against age-related decline (i.e. dementia). Curiosity also fuels creativity by helping the brain make sense of new information and forge new connections.
Reference: http://bit.ly/3PpQsRc

Art Prescription

🧘 Mindfulness in the Galleries

📍 Noguchi Museum (9-01 33rd Road, Long Island City, New York 11106)
📅 March 21, 2026

A guided mindfulness session held directly inside the museum galleries.
